Course / Shooting Rules:

  • Attempts / Shooting Volleys do not need to be consecutive.

    • i.e., Students may make multiple attempts to complete the course of fire.

  • A-Zone hits are cumulative

    • e.g., If a student makes 10 A-Zone hits in their 1st attempt/volley and 10 A-Zone hits in their 2nd attempt/volley, then that counts as their 20 required A-Zone hits.

  • Every student must fire at least 50 rounds.

    • Irrespective of the number of A-Zone hits, every student must fire a minimum of 50 rounds of ammunition to demonstrate their knowledge of the use of a firearm and their skills in safe gun handling.

  • There is no maximum round count limit

    • Students may shoot as many rounds as needed to complete the course of fire.

  • Semi-Automatic Guns: Students shooting semi-automatic handguns must have, at the time of firing, as many magazines as is needed to hold at least 24 rounds of ammunition.

  • Double-Action/Single-Action Semi-Automatic guns may fire their first round with either the hammer cocked or de-cocked, depending on shooter preference.

    • In order to shoot the first round with the hammer de-cocked, the gun must have an built-in de-cocking mechanism.

    • Students are not allowed to ride the hammer forward manually.

  • Double-Action revolvers must be fired in "Double-Action Mode" at all times.

    • Manual cocking of the hammer before shooting is not allowed.

  • Single-Action revolvers are not allowed.

  • If at any time during the shooting portion, the instructor(s) or Range Safety Officer(s) feels that a student cannot safely use the gun they brought with them, they reserve the right to disallow the use of that firearm on the range.

    • If this happens, students will be given the opportunity to re-shoot at a later date with a different gun or use a gun that we (Center Mass: MFT) provides.

      • If a student uses a gun that we (Center Mass: MFT) provide, additional costs will incur.

  • If at any time during the shooting portion, the instructor(s) or Range Safety Officer(s) feels that the student cannot safely complete the course of fire, they reserve the right to disqualify the shooter from continuing the course of fire.

    • If this happens, the student may be allowed to return another day to re-attempt the shooting qualification course.
